It's estimated that nearly one of every four American adults is insulin resistant stemming from childhood obesity. As these children now adults are on a serious track to developing type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes occurs when your cells become resistant to accepting the insulin produced by your pancreas making your blood sugar rise, a dangerous and at times life threatening. If your one of them your risk triples for heart disease down the road, as well. A most depressing situation!

This is such a major problem in our society today. In my opinion healthy nutrition should be taught in schools. Parents have no idea of the nutritional value of foods and which foods contribute to a healthy diet. Great hub here Craan.

It's about time for a change! Thanks Acaetnna! Parents need to be educated and stand for their child's nutritional health! When children are sick, a doctor will inject their little bodies with strong medicines that produce major side effects down the road.

It's either they watch their child's health deteriorate from a poor quality diet and lack of exercise or they watch their child's health soar with happy energy, good looks with an extra dose of intelligence.

I am a retired teacher and the things that jkids eat for lunch is awful. I think that they are going to cut out those foods at school. Pizza should not be eaten everyday. Sweets taste good and children like foods that taste good and sweet. You are right fruits for snacks are the best things for kids instead of chips, etc. I am going to check out your books for children. check out my movie. http://NanMynatt.OneGreatMovie.com/?SOURCE=HPM

Dear Nan,

Your natural skinny weight loss pill looks promising for adult obesity problems. Nevertheless, for children the best solution to living a healthy active lifestyle is being taught to eat healthy fruits and vegetables with quality protein from a young age. Thank you for your inspiring note!

Obesity for children and for adults is a problem that hurt everyone..but mostly for the children cause they can't handle the emotional side-effects of that disease. We must change our ways of living if we want our children to be healthier and enjoy life without serious problems from this age.

I totally agree with you Giantonis! Parents must read food labels and not buy foods loaded with sugar, artificial flavors, preservatives, hydrogenated vegetable oils, sodium nitrates, food coloring and white flour products. Once children stop eating these poisonous-food ingredients, they will be healthier.
