The first step you do to be a stamp collector is to get a lot of stamps. You can buy them in a store in packages or order them by mail. You can also collect them in your home by collecting the stamps that come in the mail.

All you need is an album to put to put your stamps in, so you don't loose them with some hinges to attach the stamp to the pages. You also need a pair of stamp tongs to carry them around.

Once you have all your stamps, the next step would be to sort them. First put aside the stamps that have paper on their backs. Then dip them in warm water until the paper comes off. When all the paper is off take the wet stamps and let them dry.

After they are dry take your stamps and put them in alphabetical order. By looking at what country they come from and putting Alaska under pile A The stamps you can't identify put them in a separate pile.

When you finish, you can either mount the stamps into your stamp album or put them into separate envelopes and mount them another time.

But before you mount your stamps into your stamp album you have to sort them, and make sure they are in good condition.

You will have a lot of stamps that will be the same. You have to pick the best one for your stamp album.

There are five different conditions for stamps.

  • Stamps can be superb which means they are like new. They have a fresh clean color.
  • Very fine is a stamp almost perfect but the color is a little shaded.
  • Fine is a stamp that has no blemishes. It is not as good as a very fine stamp.
  • Good is a stamp that is not thorn. The color is faded. The postmark is very dark.
  • Poor is a stamp that is thorn and is no good. Keep these stamps only if they can't be replaced.
